What type of computer do I need?
* Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows XP SP2
* Mac OS X v.10.3.9 (or higher)
* 512MB of RAM (or greater)
* 150MB of available hard disk space
* Network connectivity (wired, 802.11 a/b/g, or Powerline)
* Working connection to the internet of no less that 786 Kbps
The critical idea here is that your Fliptube service will be streamed to you over the internet. Therefore you will need a high speed Internet connection. A connection speed of at least 1 Mbps downstream is recommended for adequate viewing - lower speeds may cause a noticeable decrease in quality. The faster the connection speed, the better the picture. A transfer rate of 1.5Mbps is ideal.
How does Fliptube work?
Fliptube is a hosting service that stores a subscriber's equipment in a high volume data center and allows each subscriber to access an individual TV account based on our Terms of Service agreement. Our service brings live, streaming, full access cable television to subscribers over the internet...where ever they live or work.
What will I need to start an account?
Starting an account is very simple. You will need a valid credit card, a confirmed Flitube account and a reasonably modern computer. One quick software download and that's it. No other companies are involved in the transaction and you can be watching your Fliptube in a matter of a couple of days (maybe a few hours if we can engineer it).
Fliptube is a service company that gives customers access to their TV service through the internet. We are not a broadcasting company of any type. We are a professional data hosting service offering a range of delivery options for clients just like yourself... clients that want to see American TV but have found it too difficult or inaccessible until now.
What equipment do I need to use Fliptube?
You need a reasonably up to date computer and some type of broadband internet account (delivering a minimum of 786k download speed). In order to connect your television to Fliptube, you will also need a few cables that are readily available. The rest of the equipment is delivered to our data center and configured to your account settings only.
We handle all the "back end" set up and give you nothing but a service that's as easy to access as any web browser. When you become a subscriber to Fliptube, you are also buying or leasing a receiver, cables and other equipment that you own or lease but that are maintained and serviced by us. That equipment is hooked up at Fliptube's data center where we connect it to the internet, give you access to it and monitor it for your convenience.
Am I able to check out a demonstration of the service?
Yes. We have live demonstration streams for you to access prior to purchasing. Please contact us for a personalized demonstration or fill out the demo request form on our website. In some cases we may need to set up a brief phone conversation in order to enable a demonstration.
Can I watch the service on my television set?
Absolutely. The options that are available to you require some level of cable hook up between your computer and the television set you wish to hook up. This usually requires some level of local technical knowledge to define the proper cables necessary and then instal them. For detailed support on this issue, please start a "support ticket" by visiting our support page.
How long does it take to get setup?
Most new clients can be watching their Fliptube account within 48 hours. This is not a fixed time frame. There is some work to be done on our end and then some straight forward set up on your end also. Our service is subject to availability and there may be times that account set up is delayed because of cable accessibility. After your agreements are signed and your credit card is authorized, we will forward to you custom login information at which point you can start enjoying your Flitube account immediately.
What happens when the service is cancelled?
When the service is cancelled, the transmission equipment that is leased from the cable company is returned to them. The Sling Box and any other equipment that has been purchsed to support your account will be returned to you or purchased from you by Fliptube in accordance with the "Terms of Service" agreement. Early cancellation of the Service is defined as cancellation within the first 6 months of operation does result in a $200 deactivation fee, however there is no formal minimum contract term.
If you choose to have your equipment shipped to you at a US address, there is a one time charge to you of $15.00 US if you have been a subscriber for less than 12 months. As a courtesy, any client that has been with Fliptube for more than 12 months can have their equipment shipped to a US address free of charge. For international shipments, we require that you provide us with a shipping account number and as well as a one time charge of $25.00 US.
If you choose to have Fliptube purchase your equipment from you, you will be notified of a buy back price at the time of the service cancellation. All cancellations require that your account be completely paid in full with no outstanding balances pending.
How is the TV programming controlled?
Your Fliptube account and all of the viewing settings are yours exclusively and management of all the features and programming aspects of the service reside completely in your control. This service is a one-to-one type of service, meaning that only one person can watch the stream at a time and only the subscriber has authority to view the hosted account. No one will be able to interfere with your account in any way and your remote control (browser-based) is the tool that you will use to operate it.
